Research to Classrooms: Chameleon Feeding Practicum
7/30/2026
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM CST

Location: USD Campus, 4801 N Career Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57107

Event Description
Teachers! Bring research happening here in South Dakota to your classrooms through hands-on lesson plans. Dr. Chris Anderson of the USD Biology Department researches chameleon feeding and has partnered with the South Dakota Discovery Center and educators to bring  his research to the classroom. Chameleons make great phenomena for learning about force, energy, habitats, adaptations and more!

This hybrid professional development is a practicum, meaning that part of the learning time is to implement and reflect upon one of the lessons. We will meet for one day together to learn from Dr. Anderson and the team. Participants will implement one or more of the lesson in their classrooms by early December. We will reconvene in December for a share-out of what worked, what to change and what to add.

Get a sneak peek of the lessons you will teach at our teacher-facing website.
