The TALES Project in Badlands National Park
5/15/2021 - 7/30/2021

Event Description
Looking for PD that will energize AND equip you with resources for your classroom? In TALES Project in the Badlands PD, K-12 educators and informal educators go to Badlands National Park for an immersive experience in field work, citizen science, and the outdoors that they bring back to their learners through an artifact of this lived experience (photos, videos, story maps). This is a hybrid class with remote pre-field work preparation, a synchronous field work experience June 22-24, and an assignment. During the field session, we will camp in a primitive area of Badlands National Park. There is no electricity or running water but there are vault toilets.  Basic camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad) is available for a small rental fee. Some meals provided. Space is limited. The cost is $50. Credit will be available for an additional fee.

The pre field work session includes completing GLOBE training, becoming familiar with ArcGIS story maps, setting up an iNaturalist account, and doing assigned readings. Please review this video to see if this is a good fit for you.
