The South Dakota Discovery Center is seeking students (age 14-20) who are enrolled in high school or their freshman/sophomore years of college to apply for a micro-internship. In this two hour internship, interns will beta test an online air quality monitoring tool for public audiences and classroom use. This tool is used by scientists to understand air quality issues in real time.
A $50 stipend is provided upon completion of the micro-internship.
Date: Sunday September 20, 2026
Time: 2pm CT/1pm MT - 4pm CT/3pm MT
Location: Via Zoom.
Qualifications:
- Be enrolled in a South Dakota high school (grades 9-12) or college/university (freshman/sophomore).
- Must have a laptop that can access Zoom and Google Drive. Chromebooks are ok. Check with your school’s tech coordinator if using a school issued device. Phones will not be able to load materials needed for an internship.
- Be available for the full two hours of the internship.
- Be interested in air quality.
Students should apply by Friday September 11, 2026. Notification of acceptance will be Monday September 14. Application form
