Event Description
Join movie screenings in our portable planetarium; free with admission! Stop in for one, or catch a triple feature screening of summer exploration! From the history of our eyes and telescopes to observatories recording data, delve deep into different aspects of this week's summer science show.
Runtime: 26 minutes 36 seconds
Target Audience: 5+
Description: Big Astronomy: People, Places, Discoveries explores three observatories located in extreme environments and remote locations in Chile. Due to its special climate and location, which creates stable, dry air Chile is one of the best places in the world for astronomy. By 2022, 70% of the world's optical and infrared collecting power will be located in Chile. With a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) the film highlights the multitude of careers needed to keep the great observatories working. The show is narrated by Barbara Rojas-Ayala, a Chilean astronomer.
Journey Beyond the Known 360-degree planetarium movie may vary depending on the audience present.
Please be aware that our shows may incorporate one or several of the following features: bright lights, flashing visuals, loud sounds, or intense motion effects.
