The South Dakota Discovery Center is challenging you to go out and record nature April 24-27 using iNaturalist, an app for documenting encounters with nature. Be part of the City Nature Challenge (https://www.citynaturechallenge.org/) an international science project that takes a literal snapshot of nature the last weekend of April around the world.
Unfamiliar with iNaturalist? Download from your app store, create an account, then check out How to Make an Observation on iNaturalist’s website.
Any qualifying observation you make in our regional five county area (Hughes, Stanley, Lyman, Jones and Sully) will automatically be added to our South Dakota Discovery Center City Nature Challenge project. What is a qualifying observation? Anything that is wild and natural, rather than captive or cultivated. For more information on the difference, review this slide deck iNat or iNot?
